What is bioinformatics? PDF Print

Bioinformatics is a set of computational tools and methods used to retrieve, analyze and treat biological information, particularly those derived from genomics projects, such as DNA sequences, amino acid sequences, microarray data, proteomics data, and so on. The most prominent part of the bioinformatician’s work used to be in the assembling process of sequence data. With the advance in omics research, however, sophisticated data mining strategies and the development of specialized databases and algorithms have come to the top of the list.
